Welcome to M-HEAL! If you are interested in becoming a new member or renewing your M-HEAL membership, please fill out our online Membership Form. Please email mheal-contact.umich.edu to obtain our membership form, as we have completed recruitment for Fall 2015. There are numerous ways to get involved with M-HEAL and hopefully this page will help guide you to the opportunities that interest you the most.

Project Teams:

At the beginning of every semester, M-HEAL hosts a Project Expo and/or mass meeting(s) in which all project teams showcase their work, post sign-up sheets, and answer questions. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about each of the project teams and fill out an application to join one. Applications are now open for Winter 2016. If you are interested in joining a team sometime in the middle of the semester, you can simply email one of the project leaders.

SANA Trip

Every spring break, M-HEAL organizes a Service Abroad Needs Assessment trip in which 16-18 students travel to a foreign country to volunteer and conduct a needs assessment investigation. The objective of the trip is to make an impact on the country both during their week by volunteering in various community centers, and throughout the next years by creating a project team based on the observed needs. Students will be able to stay with a host family, and explore the culture, food, and attractions of their host country.

Volunteering:

M-HEAL offers numerous volunteering opportunities, both locally with World Medical Relief (WMR) and abroad through our partner MESO. At WMR, we spend Saturdays mornings testing, repairing, and sorting donated medical devices. MESO makes trips abroad on a yearly basis to help medical clinics in developing nations. With both of these current opportunities, M-HEAL is still looking for new ways to help the local and international community. If you have any ideas you would like to share with us, feel free to contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Ryan Thomas (ryanthom@umich.edu).

Executive Committees:

M-HEAL seeks members from all majors and grade levels to join our growing leadership base. The M-HEAL executive board plans events, organizes fundraising, and leads new initiatives. The board supports the M-HEAL project teams and works to develop a community of students committed to improving global health.

Mentorship:

M-HEAL project teams need guidance as they advance their projects, and M-HEAL seeks mentors from a wide range of backgrounds. To become an M-HEAL mentor, please fill out our mentorship form. If you are a project team leader looking for a mentor, please contact the internal VP to put you in touch.
