M-HEAL has been involved with several events, competitions and groups on campus and beyond. These are some of the milestones and awards we have won along the way!

 

  • 2006-2007

    • Founded in fall of 2006

    • WMR trips and lamp design project begin

  • 2007-2008

    • Shift in lamp design – recruited Applied Phys graduate student with experience studying electrical grid in Uganda

    • Sponsored Student Organization status

    • First WMR Inventory Day, March 2008

  • 2008-2009

    • Lamp team enters 1,000 Pitches Competition (finalist in Social Venture category), Michigan Business Challenge, and Dare to Dream (grant recipient)

    • Weekly officer meetings, bimonthly mass meetings, Seminar series initiated

    • Second WMR Inventory Day, March 2009

    • Multiple design teams, Advisory Committee

    • Lamp to Uganda

  • 2009-2010

    • Engin 100 partnership

    • Search for community to work with, extending contacts

    • Bay Area Entrepreneurship Conference

    • First Development Weekend

    • Summer: first trip abroad to Nicaragua with the Appropriate Technologies Collaborative (ATC)

    • Aileen Huang-Saad is nominated for and receives the Outstanding Student Org Advisor Award from the CoE
